SpeeX is a free software speech codec
which declares to be free from any patent restrictions. It
aims to to make a codec that would be optimized for high
quality speech and low bit rate by adopting wide range of
bit rates and supporting ultra-wideband mode at 32 kHz (up
to 48 kHz). Being robust to lost packets but not to
corrupted ones, Speex may be directly transmitted over UDP/RTP
or used with the Ogg container format. *.spx is the file
extension of Speex.
