DV is short for Digital Video which means video information recorded in digital data. The digital video format is produced jointly by several famous appliances giants like SONY, PANASONIC, JVC, SHARP, TOSHIBA, CANON, etc. Even if you copy a digital video file for 10000 times, the quality will maintain the same as the original one, so more and more analog videos are stored in DV format(*.dv or *.avi).
