E-Book Metadata Editor

Edit the title, author and other metadata of an e-book — Drop in an .epub (OPF dc: fields: title, creator, publisher, language, identifier, subject, description, rights) or a .pdf (document info: title, author, subject, keywords, creator, producer, creation date). The edited EPUB is repackaged while keeping the strict EPUB layout; the PDF is re-saved. Everything runs locally — no upload, no server.
MOBI/AZW3 metadata lives in the Amazon Kindle toolchain, which browsers cannot write. Use the desktop app Calibre (free, open source) to edit MOBI/AZW3 metadata; this page focuses on EPUB and PDF.

EPUB OPF metadata (dc: fields)
The OPF — the manifest at the heart of an EPUB

Inside every EPUB lives one OPF package document. It has three jobs: the metadata (Dublin Core fields — dc:title, dc:creator, dc:language…), the manifest (the list of every file in the book), and the spine (the order the files are read in). Editing a title or an author means editing this one XML file — the chapters themselves never change.

OPF = Open Packaging Format; spine = reading order; Dublin Core = the standard metadata field set. This page edits EPUB (OPF fields) and PDF (document info); MOBI/AZW3 metadata needs Calibre. To read the finished book use the E-Book Reader; to fix the content itself see the EPUB Viewer / Editor.
