DDS stands for DirectDraw Surface, and
it is a file format primarily used for
storing textures and images, especially
in video games and 3D rendering
applications. DDS files are capable of
storing compressed and uncompressed
texture data, as well as mipmaps, which
are precomputed lower-resolution
versions of the texture used for
improving rendering performance at
different distances.
DNG stands for Digital Negative, and it
is an open and publicly available raw
image format developed by Adobe Systems.
The DNG format is designed to provide a
standardized, openly documented, and
lossless raw image format that can be
used across different camera models and
software applications.
