Markdown (.md) is a lightweight markup
language for creating formatted text
using a plain-text editor. Created by
John Gruber in 2004, Markdown is widely
used for documentation, readme files,
blogging, and note-taking. It uses
simple syntax like # for headings, **
for bold, * for italic, and - for lists,
making it both human-readable and
machine-convertible to HTML. Markdown
files are natively supported by LLMs
like GPT and are highly
token-efficient for AI text analysis.
The web app converts PDF,
Word doc/docx, Excel xls/xlsx,
PowerPoint ppt/pptx, HTML, CSV, JSON,
XML, EPUB, rtf,
OpenOffice odt,
ods, odp to markdown (.md) file
online. The AI preserves important
document structure including headings,
lists, tables, and links.
