Color List
HEX, RGB, HSL — what’s the difference? #a1b2c3 is a hex triplet: aa red, bb green, cc blue in
base-16. rgb(161, 178, 195) is the same value in decimal. hsl(h, s%, l%) describes the
color as hue (0–360° on the wheel), saturation and lightness — often friendlier for choosing palettes.
All three describe the same color; this page just randomizes an RGB value and shows every notation.
How are random colors generated?
A random color is just three random channel values: this page draws an RGB triple (each channel 0–255) and shows the same value in HEX, RGB and HSL. HSL is worth knowing because it separates what the color is (hue, an angle around the wheel) from how strong (saturation) and how light it is — constrain lightness and saturation ranges and even random picks look like a coherent palette instead of mud.
Random here means a fresh draw on every click — nothing is pinned, so copy or download a palette you want to keep before generating again.
